Project August: Day 30 – And Now for Something Almost but Not Quite Completely Different

Posted in Movies, Project August with tags , on August 30, 2013 by Xajow

Apparently my emphatic request for help has been ignored. It is disappointing. I did not believe I was asking that much. Oh well. Anyway, tonight something different. What could it be? You’lll have to see on the other side of the jump (as the young folks say these days). Continue reading

Project August: Day 29 – Wherein I Shred an Argument

I had to hunt for a post to use in Project August because some people (I’m looking at you regular readers) still refuse to help me. And after I found a post to which I wanted to respond, I realized the post is basically a column taken from The American Prospect, which means using it for Project August is a bit of a cheat. In my defense, I did not realize the true nature of the post until after I started working on this entry. Anyway, the author of the column seems to have used the old “I can knock down a straw man so you must be ignorant” bit. Fair warning, I am going to basically shred this person’s argument. Ready? Here we go. Continue reading

Project August: Day 28 – Truth and Beauty and the Ache in My Soul

I have talked before about why a woman would choose to submit. Some folks seem not to understand why a woman in this age would choose such. There is, in some circles, a bit of a stigma in being a submissive woman. And that is unfortunate. At the same time, in many circles being a dominant male is also considered socially unacceptable. Some folks tend to equate being a dominant male with sexism, misogyny and a desire to abuse women. Yes, there are some bullies out there, and weak willed men who lack a sense of self-control or respect. But there are dominant men who are not that way at all. Even so, to claim to be one or to act like one can be much unpopular. So why would a man choose to embrace his dominant nature? Well, that is something I am going to talk about. Continue reading

Project August: Day 27 – Wherein I Talk about a Problem Many Churches Have

I think I got an actual suggestion of a post on another blog. A pair of posts actually. It is an odd suggestion for this blog, but I am going to take it as a suggestion anyway. I would not have chosen these posts or their topic, but what the heckity darn? Why not? Stretching things a little never hurts. Unless you pull or overextend a muscle. That hurts. Anyway… Where was I? Oh yes… For the Tuesday, August 27, 2013, entry in Project August the topic is… Continue reading

Project August: Day 26 – To Protect

Posted in Dominance, Project August, submission with tags , , , on August 26, 2013 by Xajow

Short post today because I am starting this one late. After a busy weekend, I did a lot of sleeping. Anyway, there are days I wish I had massive wealth like Bill Gates. Not because I love money, but because of something I would like to do with that money. But I suppose I should explain something. Don’t worry. I will be brief. Continue reading

Project August: Day 25 – Yeah, I Said the Dominant Is the One in Control

Posted in D/s, Dominance, Project August, submission with tags , , on August 25, 2013 by Xajow

Students, I am disappointed in you. What part of “suggest some blog posts to which I can respond” are you not getting? Grumble grumble grumble. Anyway, today, I am going to talk about my perspective regarding a part of what being a Dominant in a D/s relationship means. Those of you who regard BDSM as something where submissives are always the ones with all the control should be warned, I am not going to agree with you. Those of you with a warming flutter in your belly because I am about to talk about Dominance, please take a moment to breathe first. Inhale. Hold it. Exhale. Good. And now, class begins.
