So Many Things to Yammer About

There are several news stories to give one cause for complaint. The gun control nuts annoying everyone again after the shootings at the Navy Yards. The racists who cannot handle a dark skinned woman winning the Miss America contest. Idiots bothering to commemorate the Occupy Wall Street protests as if there was something good about those protests. And a shockingly stupid PR campaign for the POTUS and his handling of Syria. So let’s calmly discuss these things in a fair and balanced… nah. I’m just going to give my opinions. Continue reading

I am warning you now: this is a post that somewhat angrily responds to the attempts by President Obama to verbally bully people into agreeing with him about gun control legislation. If that offends you, too bad.  Continue reading

Wherein I Use a Tragic Story as Metaphor

The other day I was listening to a man speak, and he told a story I think has a relevant lesson for us in this age of constantly demanding government do something. Some moron uses a firearm at a school to kill people, and we insist something must be done. So now we have people trying to say government has to pass laws and do whatever it takes to protect our children. But those demands, in my opinion, are ignoring what those laws and somethings might cause. Continue reading

Don’t worry. This one will be brief. I have seen a little more of what Obama said in his speech, and the context does not make it better. Continue reading

Sadly, this is just getting worse. Fear-mongering nonsense is pouring out all over the place. “Surely we can do better than this,” said Obama. “We have an obligation to try.” Which would be nice if I believed by “better” he meant “better” and not “more nonsensical”. Continue reading

Gun Control Nuts Going Off Half-Cocked, Again

Mere hours after a school shooting in Newtown, Connecticut, and already I was reading opinions about how the shooting proves we need more and stricter gun control laws. It very much gave the appearance that the gun control nuts all rushed to their computers, thinking not of concern for the grieving but how to try to use the tragedy for political gain. To see what these people said would almost make a person think the guns of their own accord had marched into the school and done all the shooting. The facts, of course, are quite different. Over at reason.com (and apparently at the Richmond Times-Dispatch as well) A. Barton Hinkle has a good column up analyzing liberals’ attitudes about gun control. In the column he says: Continue reading

The Gun Control Law Nuts Are At It Again

Posted in Firearms, In the News, Politics with tags , , , on July 23, 2012 by Xajow

Well, another shooting tragedy, another spate of “why doesn’t government do something to control guns” fills the op-eds and airwaves.

To all those who think the recent tragedy in Colorado is some sort of proof that more gun control laws are needed, I just want to say… Continue reading
